Kinkakuji is one of the most famous sightseeing in Kyoto. It's a Japanese traditional garden where a golden pavilion standing at the side of a pond. Kinkakuji was built 1397 which was in the Muromachi era (the period of Ashikaga Shogun). The 3rd Shogun Yoshimitsu Ashikaga constructed it.
Yoshimitsu liked attention-getting style very much. This pavilion was made up of 3 floors. 2nd floor and 3rd floor is covered by gold leaf.
Kinkakuji is one of the World Sites in Kyoto.
